People in Solihull
Random shots of people
I love nothing more than people watching. I have no idea why I find it so fascinating, but I do. This group of people were sat enjoying the autumnal afternoon sun in Solihull. Each has their own life and problems, each person unique. To photograph people, unaware of a camera, captures that moment in their lives forever. Smiling, sad, in deep thought, there are so many different emotions. To me, there is nothing like photographing the human being in its everyday habitat. A bit like the wildlife photographer?

Guy On A Bench
Deep in thought
Catching people unaware in real life can give an image that is impossible to capture in a posed setting. This guy, sat on a bench in the middle of Birmingham city centre. Deep in thought. He looks like he his carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. For all I know he maybe. There could be a hundred different reasons why he’s looking the troubled man. It’s this sort of photograph that captures the soul of a person at the time. Hopefully, if I photographed him now, he may be a lot happier with life. Who knows? It’s part of what photography is about, capturing the moment.

Moving house is supposedly a stressful time. I have to say that I think losing your house would be a far more stressful time. With that notion in mind, I came up with this digital artwork. Most of this ‘stressful life’ business is a first world creation, in my opinion. With everything going on in the world, famine, the refugee crisis and homelessness on the increase, I think we know very little about stress. The next time someone says to you, ‘I’m so stressed’ tell them about the newly displaced people in Bangladesh.

A Visit In September 2017
A quick visit to Knowle in Warwickshire to see a couple of art exhibitions. The town is situated about 3 miles outside Solihull. I know the place for its famous Eric Lyons steak and kidney pies. However, it has a lot more to offer than just pies. There were two exhibitions today, one, a painting/art exhibition in the church hall. The other was outside in a field and consisted of many delightful ideas, including balloons filled with water with minute twigs in. The idea was to show the fragility of the mind. Titled, The little balloons and created by artist Amanda Elliot. Great idea for an exhibition and great ideas to show.
We finished off at The Elderberry Blacks Cafe on the High Street, Knowle where I can recommend the fish finger sandwich and pot of tea. Delightful place and I hope to visit again.

Girl On A Bench
Seated girl on a bench
A lonely girl on a bench. Perhaps she’s waiting for someone? She seems to be enjoying a smoke. The things these benches must see during their lifetimes. People meeting people, people chatting to each other or people, like our girl, waiting for someone.
