What Do You See?

What Do You See?

When you look at the photograph above, what do you see? Is it a funny face or something else? This was my wife’s dinner which consisted of a chicken bakey thing with broccoli and a couple of baked potatoes. She added the tomato sauce as two blobs on the potatoes and a streak of it at the bottom of the plate.

A Funny Face

When we both sat comfortably at the table and she’d finished her Picasso style fidgiting with the sauce bottle, she pushed the plate around to me and said, “Look, a funny face. Hahahahah.”
I was taken aback by this bit of unexpected food art, especially as I was starving and wanted my sausage roll and cabbage.

You See Whaaaat?

“Do you see it?” she asked. I looked, dumbfounded and a little bemused. The first thing that came to my mind was a woman’s body. I had to spurt out the words as they came into my mind. “A pair of t*ts and a fat belly” is what came out of my mouth.
“Whaaaat?” she replied, adding “you don’t see a funny face?”
Well, I did when it was pointed out to me, the two potatoes as eyes with red blobby eyes and the burger thingy as a big round nose. The smiley face made from a dribbly placed band of tomato sauce.

I Was Miserable

To be honest, I was being a miserable bugger. Hungry and tired, I wasn’t in the mood for ‘food art.’ So we sat quietly and the funny face was downed and much tea drunk or drank. After I had been fed and watered, we both could see the funny side. That’s when I thought I’d blog this little experience and ask everyone what they could see in the photo.

It’s a good job wifey didn’t take a photo of my pudding, banana and custard. Goodness knows what she would have made of that.

To me it looks like a pig’s face, the thing in the middle being the snout.

    Surely it’s just a smiley face! 🙂

This made me chuckle. Psychologically speaking, we often see things that we want to see or that are a part of the mood we’re in (not always, but often). I just focus on the heart-shaped blob of sauce and how much she obviously loves you, Silly Old Sod that you are 🙂 I bet it was tasty nonetheless!!

What true love. Especially when your wife draws beautiful art work 🖼on your dinner plate and you don’t give her a comment or smile.☺ Your lucky she didn’t tell 💬you to go to your room “with no dinner!”.🥘

The very first image on my mind is a pair of ‘those’ too, with the smiling tomato sauce being the person’s belt—unfastened! 🙂
