Fed Up

Anyone else fed up to the back teeth and some with politicians. Not just our politicians here in the U.K. but every single one of them, the world over! They don’t just lie, they take big money from others, then tell us that we can’t keep getting our state pension at this rate. Go away, horrible people. Honestly, (a word rarely used on politicians), who would want to make a career at being one? You have to be wired up wrong.

Summer’s About To Hit

It looks as though summer is about to hit us big time. So far in May, it seems to have been very cool and wet with a strongish wind blowing down from the Arctic Circle. Then, we wake up today and the temperature suddenly rises into the 20’s C or 70’s F in old money. We are told that Monday could hit a new record of 32C! That’s pretty hot, although, I think here in mid Wales we won’t quite reach those temperatures.

Love NYC

I was thinking that it’s still only just over a month ago since we were in New York. We do love that place. The music, the people, the sights and just everything else you can think of. I had a very proud moment when wifey, Debbie, got up to sing at a Blues Jam that we always visit when we go to New York. It’s called ‘The Big Ed Blues Jam’ and has run for over 30 years now. Top shelf musicians play there every Monday evening and we like to think that Big Ed and the gang are our friends now. Lovely people

A Star Is Born

So, Debbie got up with the house band and sang a song by Alan Toussaint called ‘Rocks In My Bed.’
And guess what, I managed to video it all. Here it is:

Just Do It…

She just got up, told them what she wanted to sing and off they went. Pretty awesome. One of those moments that you can put in one of those little film clips in the back of your mind and play them over and over as and when you want. Great memories. That’s enough from me for now, hopefully I will be back next week. Stay safe and if you’re in the U.K. stay cool.

    1. Thank you, Laura. A lot of New Yorkers said the same thing that they thought we were brave visiting. I try not to let that guy bother me too much. 😊

  1. At least you have excitement with your politicians. I remember back to the good old days with Harold Wilson (actually my favourte) and Harold MacMillan (not my favourite) Yes “Those were the years that were”. Switzerland is almost boring with thir politics. No excitement and eventually after the parliamental discussions everyone goes to the bar together. I have been here almost 60 years, but still do not understand the Swiss politics. I no longer vote, we have a direct democracy, so anyone can call a vote on something if they get enough signatures. I remember my last vote was to allow the cows to keep their horns. They are usually removed after birth, because they could be dangerous if they get too close to each other apparently. Signatures were collected but it did not get through so they still have the horns removed.

We seem to have similar weather, at last Summer is here. New York is the only town I visited in the states for a week with my Mr. Swiss and I loved it as well. He was more into modern jazt, so we spent some time in Greenwich Village.

and congratulations on the wife singing.

  2. Hurrah that Debbie dared to get up and sing — and sing so well! The lighting is great. And the randomly dancing man does add another layer to the overall experience… Thank you for visiting our country! Regarding politicians, I agree that most of them seem to be motivated these days by how much money they can make for themselves and their friends and family using all of their insider knowledge. But there still appear to be a few who are driven by a sense of justice and equality and fairness and decency. I will continue to suppor them.

    1. Thank you so much, Willedare. Very kind of you. It’s always a pleasure to visit New York, no matter who’s running the show. 😊

  3. I live in Wyoming in the USA. Probably the most conservative state in the union! Needless to say, when I vote I feel like it goes straight to the trash. It’s not my choice to live here, but the states around us are varied in politics. And yes, I think Trump started the ball rolling and all the neerdowells took advantage of his misdeeds. Then you have Israel’s leader also taking the opportunity to exploit Trump’s ego. It is such a mess and I believe our democracy cannot recover, at least in my lifetime. I am saddened by the fact that so many military have given their lives over the years to have this demented clown undoing our policies.

  4. What a treasure that video is and always will be! She rocked it!
Don’t get me started on the politician thing. I’m convinced the worst ones are right here in the US.
