The Busiest Man In The World

The Busiest Man In The World

Not many people know this, but I have been the busiest man in the world this year. Honestly, it’s been fun and it helps keep me young. I know what you’re thinking, but I am only 16 inside not going on 70!

Never A Dull Moment
As always here, there’s never a dull moment and together with a beautiful summer, well, it has been stonking hasn’t it? I have enjoyed every nano second of every single day, except for when I stubbed my big toe back in June, but that’s another story.

Village Show
In mid August we had our annual village show here out in the field. Tractor run, side shows, car boots, games, tug of war and so much more. Even a cake competition and there was enough cake to feed everyone in Wales. I even took time out to draw a pencil drawing of two local villagers and it won first prize! It has spurred me on to make more pencil portraits over the coming months.

Playing Live Music
We have been playing quite a bit of music too, that’s me and the wife, Debbie. I just play guitar, but Debbie plays guitar too and also sings. Unfortunately, I was born with a monotonic voice. I’m also pleased to say that I no longer need what used to seem like 25 pints of the strongest ale to get up on stage to perform. We always get nice comments to when we come off stage which is always very pleasing to hear.

Hope Your Summer Has Been Good
I’m hoping everyone else has had a good time this summer. I have just heard on the news that it has been the hottest on record here in the UK. Thinking back to when I was a young boy, every summer used to seem like this one, weather wise. Perhaps I have my rose tinted glasses on again.

No Moans
Sorry I haven’t got much to moan about in this post, but at the same time it is nice to feel good and dare I say it, happy! Oh well, the cooler nights and days are arriving and the leaves are starting to fall, but I have enjoyed this summer.

  1. You are right Trevor. Summers were always superb, with fluffy white clouds, birds singing, and a lovely cooling breeze every half hour to keep us happy. I love the “friends” drawing and can see why it gained first prize. Well done!

  2. Trev, love the pencil drawing. You seem to have captured the personalities of your subjects. Congratulations on your win! It’s great to hear that you and your wife are enjoying performing music and that your community sponsors local events. 💕

  3. Thanks for this update! I am happy to read a positive blog post from the UK (while things continue to feel chaotic/dangerous here in the USA…) Your portrait of friends is lovely — I hope you draw more. And hurrah for your music-making! I, too, have taken refuge in music often this summer. Onward into autumn…

    1. Thank you. I know it’s chaotic over there. I do hope things will get better. It’s not been a bed of Roses in the UK either. 😊

  4. Nice to hear you’ve had a good summer Trev! Your drawing is brilliant. Faces are hard! And well done getting over stage fright. I wish I could attend a performance!

    1. Thank you, Rosaliene. I have done a lot of drawing over the years, but, I never think of it as a talent. I do appreciate your very kind words. 🙂

  5. I totally understand hot weather. We’re experiencing terrible heat here in Southern California. Temperatures have been over 100 F for too many days. I awake between 5:30 and 6 am. I feed my dog and then go outside and work in my garden until 8:30 am. By then it’s too hot to be outside. This 71 year old body can’t take the heat any more.
Your drawing is amazing. I wish I had a fraction of your talent. Keep up the good work.

  6. Wow, sounds like you’ve had an eventful year! I’d love to hear more about everything you’ve been up to if you’re open to sharing.

      1. You’re welcome! I’d love to share more with you. I enjoy our conversations and would like to communicate more. Do you have Instagram or another platform where we could connect? You seem like a nice person.

  7. This is my third attempt. I even subscribed again.

After attempting to leave my comments, I received the messages ‘Your Nonce verification failed.’ Nonce? 😂
So I subscribed again. Fingers crossed for this third one.

It sounds like you and Debbie have been very busy this summer, and I love the pencil portraits you’ve created.
You are so right about the hot summers of our past. My memories are of burning my feet on the hot pavements because I ran around barefoot, and winters that were snowy and full of fun. I have no idea what happened in autumn and spring. I don’t have any memory of that!

    1. Thank you, Sue and thank you for letting me know about the spurious reply. I have no idea where that has come from. It certainly wasn’t anything I put up.
I can remember myself having burning feet fromthe hot pavements and you are right about no recollections of Spring or Autumn. Thank you once again, Sue. 🙂

      1. Thank you, Trev,

My apologies for the late reading of your post. I didn’t spot it when it was published. Now that I’ve cut down on my computer time I’m missing a few posts. I don’t mind missing posts when someone blogs daily, but I don’t like missing those such as yourself. I need to look more carefully at the emails. 🙂

        1. Thank you, again Sue. No need for apologies. indeed, thank you for pointing out the problems. From what I can see it’s due to a caching plugin. WordPress is getting so difficult at times. Fingers crossed I have got it under control. Thank you too for your kind words. Sometimes, people don’t see what goes into these blogs and websites and they can comment some very unpleasant words. 🙂

          1. I thought it was funny. I knew it wasn’t anything to do with you. I eventually managed to make the comment by going back your first page instead of on the redirected page. 🙂
