A few words about myself. One moment I’m in my twenties, minding my own business, having fun, getting married, starting a family and all the normal trials and tribulations of life that most of us go through. Next thing I know, thirty-odd years have passed me by and I’m 64, hair falling out, knackered, and consuming far too many prescription tablets, inhalers and all sorts of paraphernalia. More frequent hospital visits seem to be par for the course these days.
I’ve recently retired, not because I wanted to, but because I wasn’t well enough to carry on with the job I was doing, which was labour intensive in a major car plant. They have looked after me though, and so it is that I now embark on a new direction with my life. To be honest, I’m looking forward to the journey and one of the things I want to do is start this blog. I’m ‘tech savvy’ as they say, so together with my limited artistic skills, I’m sure I can put something together that will be of interest to others.
I enjoy being creative, playing my guitar, drawing, painting both traditional water colour and modern digital art, particularly portraits. My watercolour skills are not so good as my pencil ones, and I have to admit that I find nothing better than sitting down for half an hour and sketching away with a pencil, then reaching out for my guitar and having a ‘woodshedding’ moment. I love music too, all sorts, but my favourite will always be ‘The Blues’. I enjoy watching sport, although I was never very good at participating I still enjoy watching football and all the other major events, rugby world cup, Olympics …….
Oh my, I just went through over half your Vlogs. Yes! Cows are aDORable! Sheep drive me insane although they are cute (and tasty ) as lambs.
Your front gardens…make my heart swell…the green, the daffodils, that amazing bird song…I can understand why you moved. I need my great Lakes, my inland seas, beaches, kayaks, sail boats etc but I love my garden. I love birdsong, green grass, bright yellow…so nice.
Rhubarb makes the world go round. We leave on a seasonally busy road (We are so close to the beach you hear the waves.) and last year I started setting out rhubarb starts, there where the cars pass and spray salt in the winter and exhaust in the summer. I have been feeding the rhubarb with cow manure and soil. Here’s hoping next spring the rhubarb feeds us! We are quite addicted to a rhubarb sour cream pie that gives you reason to get out of bed in the morning.
I do enjoy your V logs.
Thank you so much, dunelight I’m really pleased you like them and have taken the time to say so. Hopefully, I’ll make some more soon.
Live begins again at 60.
It certainly does ????
Yes, where did the time go…maybe it is trapped somewhere within us waiting for the right moment to fly out and scream “boo” When the calendar flipped over and over I found myself “retired”. I love it, I fill my days with poetry, short-stories, novella’s and daily journaling. I paint in watercolors and acrylics. You are on the right track, luck with all your endeavors, and just “live”. E.
Thank you, Ann and you’re right, just live, but appreciate all that we have. 🙂

Hi, you’re welcome. I don’t really go into what I read or like. If I see something and like it, that’s it.
You sound absolutely creative and full of life. Glad you’re using it all and how! Stay blest. And hey, would love to see your paintings too
Thank you, that’s very kind of you. I did put a post of sketches I have done in a post on here called My Many Faces. Thank you again for your kind words.
Almost a decade ahead from you, still working eagerly waiting for retirement, the days when monotony invades life with music, movies, long strolls, occasional jazz gigs and time lots of free time to go places!
Retirement will soon come and then you can hopefully do all the things you want to do as and when you please. 🙂
Hi Trev Jones, I hope I am on good address. Years ago I had follower on my blog **My Freddie Mercury** with name Trev Jones. Later we lost our connection. Sorry to bother you. Trev Jones what I think was from Australia and had teenage daughter this time.
Sorry again… Camilla
No problem, it wasn’t any bother
Happy New Year, sir.
For some reason, I find I have time on my hands just now and checked up on a couple of stories I published in Storgy. No one has left any comments, but you ticked ‘like’ for both. Just wanted to thank you, really.
Changing direction on retiring is fun, but also tricky. I am still struggling – maths to literacy is a dicey business at my age.
Congratulations on what you have achieved.
David
Thank you, David. I do try and leave comments on most things I like, so I must have been interrupted. ????
I really liked your sense of humor in the posts I’ve read. Keep it up! 🙂

Halo… Salam kenal…
Usia anda 65 tahun dan sudah pensiun?
Saya juga pensiun, usia saya tak jauh berbeda, 59 tahun
Salam kenal dan salam jumpa di blog.
Salam hangat dari saya di West Java, Indonesia
I ran into your blog when trying to like a post, and instead hitting your post, because you had liked it! I think I might like your posts! I am a 74 year old “semi-retired” male, who likes, photography, woodcarving, and way too many other hobbies, including travel. Take care.
Thank you and I hope you continue to enjoy my blog. 😊
You sound so much like my husband. He plays guitar, paints abstracts on canvas and has started using Procreate to make illustrations. He’s working on a children’s book. He is also in and out of hospital for a variety of reasons but he tries to stay active. The biggest difference is that we’re about 7 years older. He is also into the World Rugby Cup.
Thank you. My daughter uses Procreate for a lot of illustrations she does. I’m more of a photoshop person. I don’t share the same enthusiasm about the rugby or indeed most sports, it’s just that I am more arty farty. The guitar though, there’s not a day goes by without picking it up and having a pick. 😊
