One Of Those Days

Today seems to be turning into one of THOSE days. The sort of day where everything seems not quite right, from getting up too early to forgetting the milk in my cup of tea. Even the weather threw a ‘wobbler’ and dropped an ankle-deep worth of snow on us. In the end, I thought the best thing I could do is sit down and write. Fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong here.

Like Clockwork

I am regular as clockwork when it comes to getting up in the morning. No alarm clock, no phone reminder, nothing, I just wake up and get up. 7:20 am is my time, not a nanosecond earlier or later! To my shock, this morning, my eyes opened and looking at the clock on the wall I saw the big hand on the five, not the four as is usual, but the five, meaning it must be twenty-five minutes past!!! I jumped out of bed like a man on fire.

Dear Me

It was light and as I ran into the bathroom, the first thing I noticed was how cold it was. ‘Oh bother’, (or something like that) I thought to myself and headed off to the heating thermostat and timer to see if all was well. Everything seemed ok, but then I noticed the time. 6:30 am! It’s set to come on at 7:00 am. I double-checked the time against the kitchen clock and sure enough, it was 6:30 am. I got up almost an hour early!!

Snow

Because there was a lot of snow on the ground, the bright reflection of it through the whole house also made me think that it was later than it actually was. After all, it’s still darkish at 6:25 am at this time of the year. Cold, showered and clean I made myself a cup of tea, then promptly forgot to add any milk. I was surprised at how disorientated I became just because I got up an hour early. The snow was a surprise too, well, the amount there was. Thankfully, I didn’t need to be anywhere today, so I stayed by a warm fire.

Doctor Who

The phone rang and it was my doctor’s surgery saying that they want to make an appointment for me to have a blood test. That’s strange I thought, I made this appointment last week. After a brief silence, the lady apologized profusely and said that they had made a mistake and yes, there is an appointment made for me for the end of the month. I wondered if she had got up an hour early this morning.

At that, I will bid you all a great day and a super weekend.

    1. Oh dear, Derrick, there’s nothing worse on a bitter cold winter’s morning than not having heating. I hope you get sorted soon. Thank you. 😊

  1. Yes, I have certainly had those days. You worry about what the next thing will be. I once got my mother out of bed at 4 am thinking it was 6. In that case, we went back to bed but when it’s just an hour, what to do? Next Sunday our clocks go forward and maybe the cats and I will be on the same timetable for a day or two. At present the assault begins at 6.

  2. I hope you don’t have this stupid daylight saving time like we do, Trev. So annoying, it really messes people up. People want it abolished. I love that photo, so fun! You that the temperature up there can reach -70F, right? Have a fab weekend! 🇬🇧❤️

    1. Yes, we have the daylight saving, but not until the end of March. Yes, pretty cool on the wing at that height. Good job I had the heat from the engine to keep me warm. Thank you, John. 😊

  3. misposted this on your earlier post… you issue is evidently contagious! But here it is- “Well, Trev, lets hope that the call from the lottery saying that you won is not a mistake also!”

  4. Yep, I know that kind of day that starts off on the wrong foot. This morning, I woke an hour later than usual. It’s raining here, so it was darker outside than usual. Hope your day ended on a lighter note 🙂

  5. It’s funny how one thing being different in your routine can throw so many other things off. For me it’s if I sleep in a little bit.

    1. Thank you and yes I am pleased to say the day did improve. I hope today improves for you too. I hope it’s not catching, I wouldn’t want to spread days like that around. 🙂

  6. “One of these days” as in I will do that “one of these days” (unlike “one of those days”) must be a close relative of that invaluable item the round tuit.

I'd love to hear from you
