May Her Majesty the Queen rest in peace. I’m sure most people feel the same as I do at this moment, like losing your favourite Grandmother. Certainly, in my lifetime I have never known anyone other than Her Majesty being in charge. Always there, no matter what problems the country woke up to, the Queen was always there.
Dignity
In this day and age where so many countries are led by vile megalomaniacs, liars and cheats, we have always had the Queen, dignified, understanding and sympathetic. I will certainly miss her. Just to put the length of her reign into perspective, she was Queen for around four years before John Lennon and Paul McCartney first met! What a great achievement, 70 years as head of our nation.
Photograph
The photograph I have used is one of my few treasured memories. It is the Queen when she was still Princess Elizabeth in 1948. The other lady in the picture is my Mother. It was a press photograph taken somewhere in Coventry and my Mother was in attendance as a part of the Territorial Army. No one knew at the time that she would be Queen in just a few years’ time and also, she was pregnant with the now King.
RIP
It’s been such a sad day and certainly one of those that the younger generation will always remember where and what they were doing at the time. Condolences to her children and Grandchildren. May Her Majesty rest in peace.
We feel the same sadness here in the Philippines, Trev! Despite being weak days ago, she still performed her duties. So exemplary! Quite sad indeed that she passed away not reaching 100 years. Blessings to you and your family!
Thank you, Gersom. π
Trevor, this is a very beautiful post. God bless the United Kingdom and Her Majesty. ππ»π¬π§π
Thank you, John. π
She has always been my inspiration for living…
It will seem so strange with her no longer here. Thank you π
Queen Elizabeth embodied dignity. She was TRUE inspiration, in many ways … and she certainly knew this, and sayed yes to her responsibility with all consequences until the very end. I am from Austria, but I will miss her spirit.
She will be so missed by so many people all over the world. Thank you π
And the photo – what a lovely story!
Thank you again. π
I watched her coronation on TV
Thank you, thatβs a wonderful memory to have. π

Thank you, Miriam and I will treasure it forever. π
Amen πππ
Thank you π
Great photo!
May She rest in peace π₯π€π₯
Thank you, Luisa. π€π€π
A lovely tribute, Trev and what a great treasure the photograph is for you. It feels odd, knowing that the Queen is gone, doesn’t it? Although I have been in the USA most of my life, I have always been English at heart and as you say, the Queen was there, always. I am thinking a lot about King Charles. We are the same age, he and I. I can’t imagine being always aware that your mother’s passing would be so much more than losing a parent. I feel for him.
Thank you, Carolyn. π
Trev, people all over the world admired Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. She was truly remarkable! I saw her once when we were on a cruise, waving from the deck of the Britannia! Thank you for sharing the beautiful keepsake photo.
Thank you, Cheryl π
Not only in the UK, she’s the only member of the British ruling party most Americans know by name.
Thank you. π
Sorry for your loss and the loss of your nation. Thanks for sharing that wonderful pic. The Queen was the personification of dignity in an increasingly undignified world. RIP.
Thank you, Jim. π
A fine tribute Trev, and what a wonderful photo memory of “My Mum and The Queen”. She was a very special lady who I had the honour to serve and meet a couple of times.
Thank you, Peter. I never got to meet the Queen. π
Queen Elizabeth, she will be missed.
Every time I saw her on television, her hat, her hair, her makeup, her clothes, her stature when she walked, waved her hand, greeting with everyone she met.
WOW! What a Queen!
Thank you, Hope π
She certainly set a high bar for leadership that few can match.
Indeed she did, Lou, thank you. π
The world has lost an extraordinary woman. I doubt we’ll ever see another like her.
She was very special. Thank you, Susan. π
She was so loved.
She was Indeed, Susie. π
It’s a very, very sad time…God Save the King
It is. Thank you, June. π
She is very popular with our age democratic in Canada. As you said, she had a lot of dignity and deserved a lot of respect for her commitment to her role.
Thank you. π
I share your sorrow, Trev <3 Lovely photo of your Mother and the young Princess Elizabeth.
Thank you, Rosaliene π
The last great monarch! What an admirable woman! At the wonderful age of 96 I think she was just tired and exhausted of a long life serving her people and country. And deservedly so. Now she can rest and be with her beloved husband again.
Yes, indeed she was. Letβs hope so. Thank you. π
There are definitely feelings about it, lol. It’s going to be weird for a while to think she’s not around!
Yes, it does feel so strange. Thank you. π
Wow, what an incredible photo! Not many get to meet the Queen, even in passing, but all those who do feel so privileged and humbled and touched afterwards. Her Majesty was certainly held in high regard and was loved by so many, all around the world, and she always will be. This is a beautiful tribute, Trev.
Rest in peace, Lilibet πΉ x
Thank you very much, Caz. I’ve just found out that the Queen’s funeral will be held on the 19th, which was my Mothers birthday. π

What a lovely tribute. I would treasure that photograph too. π
Thank you, Sue. Coincidentally, the Queenβs funeral is to be held on what would have been my Motherβs birthday. π
How lovely to have a photo of a personal connection to her!
Thank you and it is lovely π
Amen π
Thank you π
Hey man, thanks for reading my poems. I think we have some things in common, such as being silly old sods. Would like to hear more from you as well.. R. xxx
You’re welcome, thank you. π
What a special photo of your mother and the Queen! God bless the UK. May Her Majesty Rest In Peace.

A very lovely tribute. Thank you.
Thank you, Kally. π
I watched every day of it. Sad her rein has ended. I bawled when I saw her horse Emma standing waiting for her.
Indeed, it was all very sad. The end of an era. π
