Her Majesty the Queen

May Her Majesty the Queen rest in peace. I’m sure most people feel the same as I do at this moment, like losing your favourite Grandmother. Certainly, in my lifetime I have never known anyone other than Her Majesty being in charge. Always there, no matter what problems the country woke up to, the Queen was always there.

Dignity

In this day and age where so many countries are led by vile megalomaniacs, liars and cheats, we have always had the Queen, dignified, understanding and sympathetic. I will certainly miss her. Just to put the length of her reign into perspective, she was Queen for around four years before John Lennon and Paul McCartney first met! What a great achievement, 70 years as head of our nation.

Photograph

The photograph I have used is one of my few treasured memories. It is the Queen when she was still Princess Elizabeth in 1948. The other lady in the picture is my Mother. It was a press photograph taken somewhere in Coventry and my Mother was in attendance as a part of the Territorial Army. No one knew at the time that she would be Queen in just a few years’ time and also, she was pregnant with the now King.

RIP

It’s been such a sad day and certainly one of those that the younger generation will always remember where and what they were doing at the time. Condolences to her children and Grandchildren. May Her Majesty rest in peace.

  1. We feel the same sadness here in the Philippines, Trev! Despite being weak days ago, she still performed her duties. So exemplary! Quite sad indeed that she passed away not reaching 100 years. Blessings to you and your family!

  2. Queen Elizabeth embodied dignity. She was TRUE inspiration, in many ways … and she certainly knew this, and sayed yes to her responsibility with all consequences until the very end. I am from Austria, but I will miss her spirit.

  3. A lovely tribute, Trev and what a great treasure the photograph is for you. It feels odd, knowing that the Queen is gone, doesn’t it? Although I have been in the USA most of my life, I have always been English at heart and as you say, the Queen was there, always. I am thinking a lot about King Charles. We are the same age, he and I. I can’t imagine being always aware that your mother’s passing would be so much more than losing a parent. I feel for him.

  4. Trev, people all over the world admired Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. She was truly remarkable! I saw her once when we were on a cruise, waving from the deck of the Britannia! Thank you for sharing the beautiful keepsake photo.

  5. Sorry for your loss and the loss of your nation. Thanks for sharing that wonderful pic. The Queen was the personification of dignity in an increasingly undignified world. RIP.

  6. Queen Elizabeth, she will be missed.
Every time I saw her on television, her hat, her hair, her makeup, her clothes, her stature when she walked, waved her hand, greeting with everyone she met.
    WOW! What a Queen!

  7. The last great monarch! What an admirable woman! At the wonderful age of 96 I think she was just tired and exhausted of a long life serving her people and country. And deservedly so. Now she can rest and be with her beloved husband again.

  8. Wow, what an incredible photo! Not many get to meet the Queen, even in passing, but all those who do feel so privileged and humbled and touched afterwards. Her Majesty was certainly held in high regard and was loved by so many, all around the world, and she always will be. This is a beautiful tribute, Trev.

Rest in peace, Lilibet 🌹 x

I'd love to hear from you
