Eating Heaven

I’ve just finished a delicious teacake that can only be described as eating heaven! Where have I been all these years that I have never tasted such delight until now? Tunnocks Tea Cakes, or as I like to call them, cake hole fillers! These things should come with a health warning as they can be addictive.

Deliciousness In Foil

It was a couple of weeks ago now, mid-evening and I had just made us a nice cup of tea. We had run out of my usual naughty delight of Custard Cream biscuits, so I made a very polite enquiry that there may be a substitute in the offing. I was not disappointed when these delightful little semi-circles of deliciousness wrapped in silver foil were offered up.

MMMMMMMMM

Boy, was I surprised when I unwrapped this thing of beauty and popped it straight into my mouth. I’ve never been a lover of marshmallow, but the taste of this fluffy stuff covered in chocolate was a real epiphany. I deliberately left a tiny bit on my lips so I could lick it for a little while afterwards. It was that delicious.

We Share A Birthday

I can’t believe these things are as old as me, having first been manufactured in the year of my birth, 1956! Maybe I should buy 65 years worth of them to make up for all the time I have missed out eating them? Perhaps if Tunnocks read this blog, they will send me some for speaking so highly of these gorgeous things. I can always hope.

Curtains

It looks like curtains for the old Custard Creams with a cup of tea from now on. Tunnocks Tea Cakes are the way forward for this kid! Well, I can’t think of any more praise for these super delicious cakefied chocolatey marshmallowy biscuity domes of pure joy so I’m off to make my fifteenth pot of tea of the day.

If you would like to know more about these Teacakes, here’s Tunnocks Website.

  1. I’d forgotten all about chocolate tea cakes, your post takes me back to the treats of my childhood. I didn’t know they still made them.
These days I think of tea cakes as the bread cake fruit variety that we toast and spread with butter! And now I’m hungry! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you, Sue. Yes, theyโ€™re still making them, thank goodness!! Delicious. As for the anonymous post, it does it with me too and itโ€™s so frustrating as I donโ€™t know why. I will have to mull it over with a cup of tea and a tea cake. Thank you, Sue. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. Oh, custard creams…I used to like the ones that had strawberry jam circles. Don’t think I ever met a Tunnocks cake, though. If I was you, I would keep the CC’s and pop a Tunnock’s periodically, just to keep them special.

    1. Oooh they are, Luisa. I don’t know if you can get them in Italy, but they are well worth trying to buy some. Delicious. Thank you, Luisa. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I’ll take either or both of those treats. Yum!! Not likely to find them around Denver, but they sound delicious! Not nice to flaunt them when I’ve nothing comparable here at the moment!

  4. Trev- You make a great spokes person for these treats. I want to run out and get me a box. Speaking of running, if you’re going to eat all those tea cakes, you might need to up your exercise routine. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd love to hear from you
