He Reminds Me Of Someone

There’s an interesting series on the BBC about the Victorian and Albert Museum in London. It shows them bringing back to life some of the many thousands of items they have in their archives. One of the items is the original, 1935 Frankenstein model.

Pour Soul

As you can imagine, it looked scary lying on a table with his torso covered. Almost like the scene from the film where Dr Frankenstein wires the poor soul to the rooftop lightning conductor. It was then, a voice broke the silence of the night and my concentration of what was happening on screen. “Ooh, he reminds me of someone!” she said. I did that half-hearted rolling my eyes around my head and throwing myself back into the television.

I Have His Boots

When the program had finished, I began to think that she had a point. The sallowy skin, high forehead, thin on top and sunken eyes. Perhaps, all I need are a couple of 10mm bolts either side of my neck and that’s it. I caught a glance of myself as I passed by the mirror in the hallway and thought that my clothes are even similar to Frank’s! I have the boots too!

I’m A TV Star

A little later in the evening, Wifey and I popped out to our local for a couple of beers. Well, mine were beers, she had wine. One of the regulars, Syd, was propping up the bar and we exchanged greetings and small talk etc. Then he turned to me and said, “I was thinking of you earlier,” “Oh” I replied, “and why was that Syd?” He looked me straight in the eye and out came the words, “I was watching the T.V. earlier about the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.” Oh my, I know what’s coming. Yes, I was right. He thinks Frankenstein bears more than a passing resemblance to me.

Ride Off In The Sunset

There’s me, thinking I have all the looks and panache of Paul McCartney or even George Clooney, but those thoughts are now well and truly dashed. Oh well, I’ll have to be ‘frank’ with myself and get on with it. I have no complaints though, as I ride off into the sunset with the Bride of Dracula.

The Victoria & Albert Museum Frankenstein Model

Here’s a clip from the Frankenstein movie in the 1930’s. He looks nothing like me!!

I didn’t see the programme so I can’t comment on the resemblance to the model in the museum, but you seem to be harbouring a secret delight, is there more to Trev than meet the eye? ????

Say Hello to Debbie from me. ????

Thank you, Sue, it’s a fascinating insight into the workings of the museum. I said Hi to Debbie and she said Hi back. Lol, my secret delight in looking like big Frank ????

Would like to see the programme, can you give me some details. I spent a lot of my younger life in South Kensington visiting the museums and V & A was one of my favourites. Perhaps they might find a Mr. Swiss lookalike. My BBC TV time is mostly BBC 1 watching the antique road show amongst other things.

‘Frankly’, I couldn’t see it. But then if you squint at the top cover photo in this post… only joking! It’s still a rather odd claim to fame, but I don’t think it’ll get you VIP access or free beers anytime soon. You need to resemble an alive and kicking star for that kind of treatment. It’s that not just one person thought it but Syd did, too.. aw, poor Trev, maybe you can make some money at weird parties as a lookalike? ????
