This certainly banished the grumpliciousness blues the other day. My Dear wife bake me a Victorian sponge cake that was just beyond words to describe! Fresh cream, fresh strawberries, a gorgeous sponge and wow, my tastebuds went into overload. I haven’t tasted cake like that in years, come to think of it, if ever.
Usually, something hand crafted as beautiful as this would only happen if we were expecting visitors, like the royal family huh um, so I was happy that this tasty, rotund bit of spongy delight was only going to be consumed by wifey and me. More me I hoped.
I don’t think I have ever wolfed a dinner down so fast in all my life. Well, with that sat in front of me, I was trembling with anticipation. The moment soon arrived and of course, I was asked how big a slice I wanted. Being honest I wanted it all! That wasn’t going to happen.
I had a decent sized piece though. Absolute heaven! I may have scoffed my way through my dinner like a man that hasn’t eaten for 3 months, but I was enjoying every molecule of this cake. I was hoping it had half the calories of a normal Victoria sponge so I could have twice as much, but that didn’t work.
Poor me, I had to eat this cake over several nights because of the fresh cream fruit content. Can you imagine what that felt like, night after night? Well, that’s my treat of the week and I’m already looking forward to the next confectionary treat, whenever it might be.
I like to leave a relative link with any post I write, but the only one I could find is Patisserie-Valerie which is a very nice chain of cake shops, but not as nice as my Victoria Sponge.
That looks yummy!
Oh it was, thank you. ๐
Oh, lucky lucky you!
And now I have to figure out why WP isn’t alerting me to your posts via email, as it is supposed to. Le sigh.
Yes, I am very lucky. It was delicious. I have no idea why you arenโt getting alerts. Perhaps subscribe again. Thank you. ๐
Wow. Delicious. I think I would enjoy that as well. It resembles strawberry shortcake, which is something we make on this side of the pond.
I know you would enjoy it, it was delicious! Thank you ๐
That is a pretty decadent desert, Trev! โค๏ธ Maybe you should buy her flowers!
I think youโre right, Cheryl. Thank you ๐
I’m organising a coach trip to your house for next week. We won’t stop long…just until the cake runs out!
Haha, I am sure the cake will run out before your coach arrives, Peter. Thank you ๐
You poor man, having to suffer so! If I could choose a last meal, it might well include such a confection
Thank you, Carolyn, I am glad you realise my suffering. ๐
Oh my! You lucky man, having to eat your way through all that deliciousness. I LOVE fresh strawberries and am so jealous!!
I will save you a slice, Susan. Thank you ๐
Very pretty too!
Oh, it was better than it looked, delicious. Thank you ๐

Thank you, Carol, it was yummy! ๐
Too bad the technology to teleport a slice through the computer doesn’t exist (yet?). That looks and sounds amazing!
Ha, it was Herb, just delicious, thank you. ๐
So sorry you had so suffer the slings and calories of outrageous good fortune, Trev. ;>)
Thank you as always, Mitch. ๐
