Landscape

In response to this week’s Dailypost photo challenge, Landscape, I have used this photo that I took last year. I know that when I hear the word landscape, I usually think of rolling hills and sunsets or lakes surrounded by wooded enclaves. It’s rare that a cityscape comes to mind.

This photograph is taken in my home town of Birmingham, England. St Philips Church is the main cathedral of the city. It was taken at the very end of March, so the trees are still quite bare. It’s a wonderful place to sit and relax in the middle of a bustling city. It is known to locals as Pigeon Park, due to the high volume of the birds that live there.

I have always enjoyed photography, there’s something about its creativeness, especially in this digital age where we can process images without a chemical in sight. It’s immediate nowadays too. There’s no waiting for two weeks while your roll of film is being developed at the processors.

As this was a RAW image, I was able to adjust the exposure levels quite a lot during post-processing which was useful in producing the HDR image that is shown, HDR meaning High Dynamic Range. I hope you enjoy the photo as much as I have enjoyed taking and editing it. A brief glimpse into my home town.

That’s a lovely view. England is a place I’d love to visit someday. I guess I should start keeping pictures with names attached to it.

Thank you, the whole of the British Isles can be beautiful in places, from Scotland, through Wales and into England.

Great shot – I’m still working on mastering HDR shots, but you’ve nailed it with this photo.
