Rooftopping
I’ve never heard the phrase ‘Rooftopping’ before and as my curiosity was aroused, I just had to go sniffing around. It’s so called because people want to climb tall buildings like skyscrapers and cranes, risking their very lives and probably anyone on the ground that they may land on should they fall.
Spider Like People
Just looking at images of these spider like people half way up a thousand foot block of steel and glass makes me go all giddy. After all, I’m someone who gets paralysed and shakes like a jelly with just one foot on the first rung of a ladder! So what is it that makes these folks want to do this? I’m buggered if I know.
Bonjour
There’s a French guy who is in his 60’s that cannot keep his feet on the ground. I’ve even seen video of him climbing out of his hotel room window, dressed only in a bathrobe and flip flops and away he goes, brick by brick up to the top of the building. Why doesn’t he take the lift (elevator) like any normal human being and know that he will get there in comfort and safely too? I am surprised he’s got to his 60’s.
We Want To Climb!
If it comes out of the ground and goes way up in the air it seems there is someone who wants to climb it. Some of these huge cranes seem to attract the death defying lot of spider people. There’s even a young couple in Russia that do it together. Nothing is out of bounds. Cranes, skyscrapers, pylons, wind turbines and anything that they see as an anti gravity challenge. I hate to say it, but I don’t think they will grow old together.
Here’s a video of people ‘rooftopping’ but be warned if you don’t like heights! As for me I’m staying grounded for the foreseeable future.
It sounds scary!
I find it absolutely terrifying. Thank you. 😊
Oooh Trev, that made me feel peculiar! The lad on wheels – madness! My dad used to walk along the edge of the platform in the underground and that always made me cringe.
Yes, I had trouble watching it. I know exactly what you mean about your Dad, I would feel the same. Thank you, Carolyn. 😊
I’m with you, Trev – my feet are not leaving the ground.:)
Thank you, Sue. I just don’t understand these people. There’s no second chance, no, ‘oh, that didn’t work, next time I will do it differently’ as there won’t be a next time. Each to their own, but as you say, Sue, my feet are staying on the ground. 😊
Not for me.
I totally agree with you, thank you. 😊
I’ve never thought of myself as afraid of heights but I do have a much more healthy respect for them than these foo…er…folks.
Yes, that’s what’s missing here, respect. Thanks Herb. 😊
That’s crazy! They must have vision like the birds.
I think they must have nerves of steel too! Thank you, Rosaliene 😊
I’ve done some silly things in my time, but nothing would get me anywhere near those edges and heights.
Indeed, I am the same regarding stupidity, but I always made sure I was safe. Thank you, Peter. 😊
I saw the last picture of the chap at the edge of the roof with no parapet or guard rail and felt all wobbly inside! Feet on the ground for me too.
Most definitely! Thank you 😊
I was a bit of a rooftopper when I was young. But then I lost my spine (or should I say grew a brain?).
P.S. The emails I receive when you post have broken link.
Gosh, Mitch, that sounds scary. Thank you too for the broken link, appreciated. 😊
